Technology
In addition to standard oral and maxillofacial surgery equipment, the Florida Institute of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery offers state-of- the-art technologies that aim to increase surgical precision, reduce postoperative complications, speed recovery time and achieve optimum result with maximum comfort. Here are some highlights of our current technology:

  • The 3D Cone Beam CT provides the staff with three dimensional images of a patient’s facial structure and allows for pre-surgical virtual surgery and precise dental implant placement.

  • FIOMS’ dental implant process is a prosthetically driven process. A prosthetic model is built for patient and restorative dentists to visualize the final result. Then using revolutionary NobelGuide and the 3D imaging, a surgical template is generated to clearly define the placement of implants. Therefore, the actual surgery time is shortened significantly with a level of precision that was impossible to achieve otherwise. On many occasions, teeth can be placed on the implants on the same day, achieving teeth-in-an-hour and teeth-in-a-day.

  • The state-of-the- art IV sedation anesthesia module reduces patient anxiety and awareness during surgery.

  • Due to its minimal absorption depth of 1/10 mm, underlying or surrounding tissue structures cannot be damaged or compromised. Most surgical procedures can be performed with less anesthetic and perfect coagulation, resulting in less pain, swelling, and post-operative discomfort. It is often used for oral surgery, dental implant, skin resurfacing and cosmetic procedures.

  • This is a minimally invasive technique that cuts bone with minimal damage for soft tissue, nerves and mucosa. It is often used for dental implant, bone pathology, sinus lift and other procedures that are involved in bone cutting.

  • The FIOMS office is equipped with Ellman Surgitron that offer high frequency radiowave at low temperature. Clinical benefits include reduced postoperative discomfort, mimimal scar formation, maximum readablity of histologic sepcimen and enhanced cosmetic results.

  • PRP is a product of patient’s own blood that is enriched in growth factors. We are equipped to prepare and apply PRP to promote wound healing after surgical procedures.

Dr. Takashi Koyama utilizes these technologies accordingly for all the oral and maxillofacial procedures and facial cosmetic procedures. The goal of our practice is to achieve optimum result with minimal side effect and fast recovery for our patients. To Dr. Koyama, the most rewarding moment comes when he sees beautiful smiles from his patient and their family members.
